Steps You
Should Take in 9th Grade

As you begin high school,
it's important to make sure you are taking courses that
will prepare you for college. Work with your teachers
and counselor to get on a college-bound track, including
taking Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses
and/or participating in the International Baccalaureate
program.
- Take required
courses to meet the *SUS admission standards like
Algebra I or Geometry, College prep English, and a
foreign language.
- Take the courses
that meet the *SUS admission standards like Social
Studies, Math, English, Science, a foreign language,
and elective courses.
- Begin or update your
Student Planner at
www.Facts.org. The
planner has information on courses and grades
required for *SUS admission.
- Join clubs, play
sports and volunteer. these are good ways to develop
or expand your interests.
- Earn good grades
(aim for A's and B's) and complete all homework
assignments.
- Meet with your
school counselor regularly.
