Take English at
Honors or AP level along with other courses required
for SUS admission. Advanced Placement math courses
such as Analysis of Functions, Pre-Calculus or AP
Statistics are also recommended.

If you did not
achieve an acceptable score for English on the FCAT
exam, seek the advice of your counselor for
assistance. This may increase your chances of
passing the exam.

Early September:
Register for the October SAT or ACT.

October -
November: Apply to Florida universities. If you
have regularly updated your "Student Planner," your
course information will automatically transfer to
your application. The application deadline varies
for each university; be prepared to apply by
November 30, unless otherwise noted.

Register for a
federal PIN at
www.pin.ed.gov. The
student and 1 parent need to apply for a PIN. You
will need this when it comes time to complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Apply for
scholarships. Check with your counselor or career
center for information. Review each university's web
site for information on internal scholarships. sign
up for on-campus housing.

Early November:
Register for the December SAT or ACT if you are
retaking the exam.

January - March:
Apply for Financial Aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov).
The deadline is March 1. The earlier you apply, the
better.

March - May:
Register for required placement exams and
orientation sessions prior to enrollment in the SUS.

Late Spring:
Students taking Advanced Placement (AP) classes
should take the AP exams. You can earn college
credit for AP courses if you score well on the
test(s).
